Wit & Wisdom – John Gray

“The human mind is programmed for survival, not for truth.” – John Gray

The good news is we’re a resilient species. The bad news is our neurotic brains can keep us from fully living life.

Our brains do a pretty good job of perceiving threats and plotting a way to avoid danger. This comes in very handy when you are walking towards a busy city road with lots of cars and buses zipping around.

But what about all those times our internal alarms go off (stress/anxiety/fear) for no real reason at all? What’s the price of avoidance?

You have successfully avoided that perceived threat and managed to survive another day. But what if your survival instincts are causing you to miss out on the greater truth that you need to see?

Sometimes we need to realize that our instinctive perception is not accurate. Begin by questioning that automatic thought. Seek truth in every circumstance. It may lead you into perceived danger but to a glorious outcome.
